Red Deer Rebels Black 4 – Lethbridge Golden Hawks 1

The AMBHL season got underway today with three games, one of which is complete now as Red Deer Rebels Black move to 1-0-0 after defeating Lethbridge this afternoon 4-1.  Leading the way for the Rebels Black was Brenden Davidson with 2 goals while Tyrees Goodrunning 0-2-2 and D- Quinn Justinen 1-1-2 each had 2 point games as well.  Justin Travis stopped 20/21 shots he faced for the win.  Lethbridge’s lone marker came from Brandyn Howg.

Both teams will return to action tomorrow as the Rebels Black will play Southeast and Lethbridge will play the other Red Deer team – Rebels White.

There will be two more games on the docket this evening as Southeast is in Red Deer to take on the Rebels White and the Calgary Flames travel to Airdrie to take on the Xtreme in what should be a good matchup.

Southeast Tigers 2 – Red Deer Rebels White 1

The Southeast Tigers open up with a win in Red Deer this afternoon, doubling up the Rebels White 2-1.  Scoring for the Tigers was Caiden Anheliger and Brady Rask with the GWG in the 3rd.  Goaltender, Brayden Pudwell stopped 37/38.  For Red Deer White it was 2000 born Josh Tarzwell with the lone marker.

Calgary Flames 7 – Airdrie Xtreme 3

The Calgary Flames showed why they are considered a top 10 team in western Canada and a contender for the AMBHL title by defeating the home team Airdrie 7-3.  Leading the way for the Flames was Brett Leason, Markus Boguslavsky and D – Jared Bowman all with 1-2-3.  Zachary Russell had 2 goals.  G – Luke Eamon turned aside 25/28 shots he faced for the win.  For Airdrie, Gary Haden, Brett Trentham and Cody Gibson scored while Justin Fedoruk stopped 33/37 before being replaced by Ben Laidlaw for a brief period who stopped 9/12.

The Flames don’t return to action until they face their city rivals – Calgary Bisons in what should be a great matchup.  The Xtreme next action goes next Saturday as they host the Rocky Mountain Raiders.
