Bantam – Division 1

Game 1: Kamloops Jardine Blazers 4 – Prince George Cougars 3

  • Peyton Kelly broke open a 1-1 early in the 3rd period with a pair of goals and then added  his hat-trick later in the period as the eventual GWG in moving the Blazers to 1-0-0.  Jarrod Semchuk scored the other Kamloops while highly touted and ranked 03 prospect Logan Stankoven picked up 1 assist.  For Prince George, Alex Ochitwa and Fischer O’Brien each had 1-1-2.

Game 2: Burnaby Minor Bulldogs 10 – Nanaimo Clippers 4

  • Kaidan Johnson continues his somewhat under the radar big season with 4-2-6 in leading his Burnaby club to a convincing 10-4 victory.  Johnson is a player we believe deserve more recognition.  Thomas Vela scored 2 goals and Sebastian Pugliese picked up 4 assists.  For Nanaimo, Captain Riley Gannon had 3-1-4 in the loss.

Game 3:  BWC Bruins 4 – Vernon Vipers 1

  • BWC leading scorer Kalen Szeto picked up 1-1-2 while high ranked prospects D – Ryan Helliwell and Kyler Kovich each had a goal in the win.  Helliwell, who has verbally committed to US College would be a top 10 pick if committed to the WHL while Kovich should go somewhere in the 3rd round range and will provide a good two-way game for any team who selects him.  Szeto is likely to follow in his brothers footsteps and choose the college route but a team could take a late flyer on him.  For Vernon, Colby Feist had the lone goal.

Game 4:  Kamloops Jardine Blazers 7 – Nanaimo Clippers 4

  • The Jardine Blazers move to 2-0-0 while dropping Nanaimo to 0-2-0 after a 7-4 win.  Jarrod Semchuk, who we expect to go somewhere in the mid rounds of the draft had 1-3-4 while Peyton Kelly scored his 4th goal in 2 games and added a helper, Ashton Taylor and 03’s Logan Stankoven and D – Owen Barrow each had 1-1-2.  For Nanaimo, it was once again Captain Riley Gannon with a big game, putting up 1-2-3, giving him a championship leading 4-3-7 in his first 2 games.
