The Prince Albert Pirates have won the 2017 Graham Tuer Championship, their leading 4th tournament championship since the tournament began.  The Pirates went 5-0-1 in the tournament and came from behind today to defeat a very good Swift Current Broncos team 3-2.  The Pirates trailed heading into the 3rd period but the “big line” of Cox, Klassen and Ferster took over the game when tournament goal scoring leader Gabe Klassen would score early in the period, his 9th of the tournament from Cox and 04 born Tanchuk.  Then Cox scored to tie the game past the midway point of the 3rd from Ferster and Klassen then tournament scoring leader Ferster scored the GWG late in the game from Klassen and Cox.  Expect all three players to be taken in the first half of the bantam draft next May.  Swift Current out-shot the Pirates 37-33 but Mason Hawkes was strong in stopping 35/37 while WEHP 1st team all-star G – Justin Dueck stopped 30/33 for Swift Current.
