Several Western USA teams along with Rink Hockey Academy will head to Bloomington, MN to take part in the 6 team tournament. Along with RHA, the Colorado Thunderbirds, Dallas Stars Elite, Anaheim Jr. Ducks, Great Plains (MN) and Gentry Academy(MN) will all take part. Action begins tomorrow morning at 9:30 AM Minnesota time with Great Plains (MN) vs. Dallas Stars Elite while RHA will see their first action at 11:15 vs. the Colorado Thunderbirds and again in the evening vs. Gentry Academy.
Here below is how we see things finishing up with a bit of a preview on each team!
Rink Hockey Academy
Rink should be one of the favorites to win this tournament as they are solid in all areas. Up front, one of the top forwards in Western Canada leads the way in 6’1 177lbs Eric Alarie along with 5’7 115lbs Skyler Bruce. Michael Svenson, Garrett Zasitko, Noah Serdachny, Owen Weihs and Matthew Wisener are should a few of the others where offensive production should come from. Defensively, our current #1 overall ranked defenseman in Western Canada lead the way with Carson Lambos along with possible 1st rounder Hudson Thornton. High ranked goalie 6’3 Tyler Brennan and Jaxson Taupert give the team a pair of very capable tenders!
Gentry Academy Galaxy
The Galaxy will be led by the Lucius brothers (Chaz 03 born and Cruz 04 born). Chaz is currently out #1 overall ranked prospect for the WHL Bantam Draft from the Western USA but has recently made a verbal commitment along with his brother to College, so we will see. He should be one of the main players in this tournament offensively. Others to watch up front will be Nick Sajevic, Bennett Schimek and Connor Kurth. Defensively, Jake Martin and Zach Reim are a couple to watch closely. The goalie duties will go to Anton Castro.
Great Plains will feature several top Minnesota prospects. Some of players to watch will be a trio big forwards in 5’11 165lbs Triston Tabucol, 6’1 155lbs Jackson Borst and 6’3 225lbs Tanner Brouwer. Also watch for smaller, skilled forwards Tyler Chamberlain, Justin Janicke and Carter Batchelder to put up numbers as well. The team boasts one of the top defenseman in the Western USA in Luke Middelstadt along with big Joseph Greniak. They have a pair of smaller goalies who should split time.
Anaheim Jr. Ducks
The Jr. Ducks will be led by high scoring forward Benjamin Palmersheim who is currently ranked as one of the better prospects from the Western USA. Along with Palmersheim, look for small 5’5 Brody Biller,, 5’11 Joshua Hyden and 5’4 Borislav Doukov to chip in as well. Defensively, 5’11 Blake Bishop along with one of the highest ranked goalies in the Western USA Lucas Massie to make impacts as well.
The Thunderbirds Have lost its top scorer from a year ago Ethan Begg to Shattuck St. Mary’s but still have several players who can put the puck in the net led by small forwards Jacob MacArthur, Kieran Cebrian and Ryan Kelly. Defensively, they lost Eli Hunt to Shattucks as well but watch for big 6’3 160lbs Jakob Zuckermandel and offensive type dman Landon Boyd. Steven Savage is a pretty good goalie who could be a difference maker.
Dallas Stars Elite
The Stars Elite will be led by the likes of offensive dman Brent Johnson, D – Bryson Andregg and big D – Drake Hamilton. Up front, look for Brendan Coon, 6’0 Hayden Cox and Evan Werner. In goal, look for Chris Hintz to show well.
** Our scout will be in attendance, so expect updates throughout the weekend.
