WEHP are pleased to announce the following scouts will be joining Western Elite Hockey Prospects for the 2016-2017 season.  These individuals have shown us a commitment we are looking for in our scouts and have proven themselves to be hard-working individuals for not only Western Elite Hockey Prospects but also in other various aspects.

Alberta – Guy Anthony

Guy is the owner of GHockey Consulting Services and has a vast array of hockey experience and knowledge.  Guy has worked in all levels of hockey in the Grand Prairie, AB area.  His experience includes coaching the Bantam AA program, Coaching the female U16 program, Head coach of various summer academy’s which include the St. Pats Academy, U16 Western ID Camp, instructor of Hockey Alberta goaltending camp.  Guy has been an instructor and mentor at all levels of hockey in Grand Prairie and throughout the province of Alberta.

Guy has a respect in coaching training as well as NCCP level 1 high performance and peewee checking skills.  He has a degree from Sports Management Worldwide as well as Professional Scouting and General Management from Northwestern University.  Guy has taken many seminar’s instructed by some of the leading minds in the hockey community as well which include seminar’s by Ken Hitchcock, Mike Keenan, Mark Habschied, Melany Davidson and others.  Guy has taken in over 50 seminar’s which shows he is always willing to grow as a person, scouts and supreme hockey mind.

We are very please to have Guy on board with Western Elite Hockey Prospects moving forward and believe his experience will be an invaluable asset to our growing scouting platform.

Southern Alberta – Grant Gauthier

Grant joins Western Elite Hockey Prospects for the 2016-2017 on a part time basis and will cover Southern Alberta.  Grant just finished up his mentorship with International Scouting Services where they really prepare scouts well for the work involved.  International Scouting Services is one of the more reputable scouting agencies over the past 10-15 years and have long had a partnership with TSN.

Grant has also spent the better part of the past three seasons with the Lethbridge Hurricanes where he worked on the analytics side of things as a team statistician.  This will bring a new aspect we are looking forward to utilizing over the next season in our scouting.  This past season during his mentorship with International Scouting Services, Grant focused on the prospects in southern Alberta compiling hundreds of reports in a well-detailed and complete fashion.

We look forward to having this up and coming hockey mind join us for the 2016-2017 season.  Grant will bring a hunger to work hard and add an aspect we are excited to fill for the coming season.

Southern Alberta – Garry Kimmen

Garry will fill out our Alberta scouting staff for the 2016-2017 season.  Garry also comes to us from the Lethbridge area and has coached in the Lethbridge Minor Hockey Association for the past 8 seasons.  Garry has extensive knowledge of the 2001-2004 age groups, having been involved with spring hockey over the past several years.  Garry will also spend the 2016-2017 season as an assistant coach under Michael Dyck with the Lethbridge Golden Hawks.  Garry was also named an assistant coach in 2014 or the Alberta Winter Games Peewee and also for the 2016 Winter Games Team as head coach.  These experiences give us confidence that Garry knows the prospect crop and what to look for in the province of Alberta as good as anyone.

Garry Says, “throughout my life and coaching experience, I have learned the importance of skill development, a strong work ethic, and “team play”. These are fundamentals and make up the core of my coaching philosophy. I believe we are not only teaching children the game of hockey, but we are also teaching them life skills and how to become upstanding, contributing members of our communities.”  His wife, children and himself are active members of the Lethbridge sporting community.

We are excited to have Garry on our staff for the 2016-2017 season.

Saskatchewan – Chris Keleher

Chris will join Western Elite Hockey Prospects on a part-time basis for the province of Saskatchewan for the 2016-2017 season.  Chris worked this past season with the Notre Dame Hounds as Hockey Program Recruiter and Camp Coordinator.  Among his responsibilities were recruitment for two bantam and six Midget male teams, coordinated spring showcases and spring summer camps as well as head coach within the Male program.

Prior to that, Chris worked with the Guelph Gryphons as video coach and in charge of breaking down material as well as other coaching duties.  Chris has also worked as Western Canada Coordinator for Rinknet and ran the database and watched many tournaments in his duties of measuring prospects for input to the database.  Also did some video editing work.  He worked with Media Relations for the MasterCard Memorial Cup in Mississauga and spent some time with the Sarnia Sting Hockey Club.

He also has the NCCP High Performance Certification and a Sports and Recreation Degree from Lambton College.

Just recently Chris was hired on as a coach with the Kindersley Klippers with the SJHL.

We are excited to have Chris on board for the 2016-2017 in a part-time role.

Saskatchewan – Ward Edwards

Ward is a life long Saskatoon resident who has extensive playing and scouting experience.  Ward has worked as a Commercial Real Estate Agent in Saskatoon.

Ward played his hockey with the Saskatoon Contacts and then three years in the SJHL which included an All-Star nomination and was also a Centennial Cup winner.  Ward has experience with the Saskatoon Blades and the U of S Huskies.  Ward currently scouts with the Kootenay Ice and will be coaching the Saskatoon Stallions of the SBAAHL in the fall.

Ward understands what it takes to win and his hard-working approach to scouting and his passion of the game are very evident in the time we have gotten to know Ward.

We are pleased to Welcome Ward for the 2016-2017 season and will head up the scouting for the SBAAHL North.
