CSSHL Weekend Update

On Friday, it was OHA Edmonton sneaking by Rink Hockey Academy in a battle of top 4 western Canada Bantam teams 3-2.  Evan Waldie scored the GWG in the 3rd which was his 2nd of the game.  Waldie, who should go somewhere in the mid rounds of the draft has 15-14-29 in 23 GP.  Colton Dach added another couple points for OHA.  For RHA, #1 overall ranked D – Carson Lambos had a goal and Owen Weihs had 1-1-2 to give him 17-12-29 in 22 GP.  Weihs is now just 1 goal back of team scoring leader and high ranked Eric Alarie.

Saturday saw six games in the CSSHL highlighted by a Rink Hockey Academy bounce back 4-3 OT win over OHA Edmonton despite getting outshot 46-31.  Matthew Wiesner tied it on the 3rd period to force OT and then Skyler Bruce scored the OT GWG.  Eric Alarie, who should go in the top 2 rounds of the draft led the way with 1-2-3, Carson Lambos and Owen Weihs another couple points and Skyler Bruce 1-1-2.  High ranked prospects D – Kyle Masters and Sean Tschigerl each with 1-1-2.  Colton Dach’s 9 game point streak came to an end.

Delta Green got by Yale 5-4 in a shootout yesterday.  Holden Cardinal, who has really turned his game up in the 2nd half of the season scored the lone shootout goal to go with a regulation time marker.  Tyler Hanson scored a pair to give the Oregan native 9 goals.  Logan Stankoven and Kobe Verbicky each had 1-1-2 for Yale.  Both players we expect to be first rounders.

OHA Penticton erased a 2 goal deficit to defeat BWC Academy 3-2.  Steel Quiring scored his 2nd of the game in the 3rd period to win it.  Quiring now has 14-18-32 in 22 games.  Cole Sillinger scored his league leading 40th of the season and added 2 assists.  Sillinger is now on a 9 game goal scoring streak where he has 16 goals in that span.  Sillinger should go in the top 10 picks of the draft.

NAX knocked off Edge 8-3 powered by another big game for 04 phenom Matthew Savoie who had yet another 4 point game with 1-3-4.  It was Savoie’s 5th straight 4 point game and his 13th 4 point game of the season.  He leads the CSSHL prep division in scoring with 26-57-83 in 26 GP.  Dylan Guenther fired home another pair of goals to tie him with Cole Sillinger for the league lead at 40.  He is on a 8 game goal streak, having scored 14 goals in that span.  Edge F – Milo Schniedmiller continues his fine season with another 2-1-3.  We think he will be one of if not the only Edge player drafted in May.

POE got by Shawnigan Lake 5-2.  Jacob Boden, Hayden Prosofsky each had 1-1-2 while Quinn Paterson and Luca Grabas each had 1-2-3.  It was the 4th win of the season for POE.  Shawnigan Lake got both goals from Hezekiah Mbaja.

Varsity – The wildness continues in the Varsity division leading many to think it should go to a tiering system next season.  Delta Varsity defeated IHA 21-0 and fired 96 shots on goal on Saturday.  Caleb Reimer had 5-4-9, Niall Crocker 5-2-7 in that game.  St. Georges moved to 27-0-0 after a pair of 14-0 wins over the weekend.  Trevor Wong now has 58-72-130 in those 27 games.  Dylan Fader and 04 born Connor Levis have well over 80 points.  St. Georges have outscored the opposition 317-28 this season.

AMBHL Highlights

The SEAC Tigers have overtaken Okotoks for the final playoff spot in their division after a 5-1 win yesterday.  Caleb Wyrostok scored 2 goals and Marek Andres stopped 32/33 shots for the win.

Lloydminster doubled up Spruce Grove PAC 8-4 with Chase Renton and Reid Mckay each scoring twice.  Mckay added 2 assists for a 4 point game while Jagger Firkus had 1-3-4.  D – Spencer Nome scored both Spruce Grove goals.

Red Deer upset Airdrie 5-3 yesterday.  With the win, Red Deer have closed to within 4 points of division leading Airdrie.  Myles Hilman broke the tie in the 3rd period and then added the insurance  marker.  Ranked D – Charlie Wright chipped in with 3 assists.  For Airdrie, AMBHL dman scoring leader Keegan Slaney had 2 goals and Ty Mueller along with Craig Armstrong each had 2 points.

SBAAHL Highlights

Several games in a busy Saturday in the SBAAHL with Prince Albert doubling up Battlefords 12-6.  League scoring leader Gabe Klassen picked up 2-3-5 to give him 48-34-82 in 29 GP.  Logan Cox continues his hot play with another 5 points and 3 point games for D – Chase Freidt-Mohr, Kade Beaton and Ashton Ferster.  Prince Albert are 3 points out of first place Saskatoon Outlaws.

The Saskatoon Maniacs built up a 16-0 lead on Moose Jaw after 2 periods and won the game 17-0.  D – Hunter Larocque had 5-1-6 and Alex Bernauer had 2-4-6 and Nate Bentham scored 5 goals.

South leading Swift Current got by the Saskatoon Generals 7-4.  2005 born Kalan Lind scored a hat trick to lead the way!  Cash Arntsen had 4 assists.

The Saskatoon Outlaws picked up a 7-0 win over Weyburn.  2004 born Nolan Flamand continues to prove why he’s a top 10 ranked player with 2-2-4 and high scoring Matthew Hodson had 1-1-2.  Hodson has 42 goals.  The shutout went to Tyler Petrie.

The North East Wolfpack fired 51 shots at Yorkton goalie Kael Depape and skated away with a 3-1 win.  Kolbe Cumming led the way with 2 goals, giving him 13 for the season.

The Regina Pat Blues tied Estevan 2-2 with high scoring Regina D – Parker Jasper scoring another 1-1-2.  Jasper has a team leading 34 points in 27 games this season.

West Central knocked off Humboldt 5-2 despite being outshot 42-29.  Noah Martens stood tall in goal while several players added 1-1-2 including D – Eric Robbie, Garin Scherr and Gavin Halter-Metcalf.
