CSSHL Players of the Month – January 

MVP – Dylan Guenther – NAX – Dylan accumulated 7-7-14 in 5 GP and remains a top 10 ranked player for the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft.  Part of one of the top lines in Western Canada and closing in fast on the league goal scoring lead in January.

Defenseman – Graham Sward – Yale Hockey Academy – Graham continues to show why he is one of the top all around defenseman in Western Canada in the month of January.  Dominant month for Graham.  Had near a PPG as well in the month.

Goaltender – Thomas Milic – BWC Academy – Milic continues to take his game to the next level and has improved each month this season with a heavy work load.

Top Rookie – Matthew Savoie – Matthew continues to be the #1 prospect in Western Canada.  Talk of special exemption in to the WHL early with the 03’s has surfaced of late.  Had a huge month with 6-11-17 in 5 GP

AMBHL Players of the Month – January 

MVP – James Gibson – Edmonton CAC – Very deserving of the player of the month with 6-9-15 in just 7 GP.  Has really stepped up his game this season since high end 04 born Billal Noori went down early in the year.  Gibson leads the AMBHL in scoring.

Defenseman – Keegan Slaney – Airdrie Xtreme – Played in all situations for the Xtreme and racked up 2-10-12 in just 7 GP in January.

Goaltender – Nathan Airey – Airdrie Xtreme – Another strong month for Nathan and continues to be near the top of all goaltending categories.

Top Rookie – Hayden Smith – GPAC Storm – Hayden is one of the top 2004’s in Western Canada and despite his small size, he puts up huge numbers.  Had 6-4-10 in 7 GP in January and has over a PPG this season.

SBAAHL Players of the Month – January 

MVP – Matthew Hodson – Saskatoon Outlaws – Has led the Outlaws to 1st place in the SBAAHL North with a huge month amassing 14-10-24 in 8GP.  Could go in the top few rounds of the draft.

Defenseman – Joe Arntsen – Swift Current – Joe had another big month for Swift Current and anchors the blueline on one of Saskatchewan’s top teams.  Joe accumulated 6-7-13 in 7GP in January.

Goaltender – Boston Gelowitz – Regina Monarchs – Boston had a tremendous month with a 6-0-0 record while recording 3 shutouts and posting a 1.66 GAA.

Top Rookie – Nolan Flamand – Saskatoon Outlaws – Along with Hodson, Flamand has been on a huge tear in the new year.  Nolan put up 8-11-19 in just 8 GP.  Nolan is one of the top ranked 04’s for the draft.

Winnipeg AAA Players of the Month – January 

MVP – Trent Crane – Pembina Valley Hawks – Trent is closing in fast on the league goal scoring lead after a huge month of January where he scored 14-5-19 in 8 GP.

Defenseman – Lucas Brenton – Winnipeg Sharks – Big defenseman who logs a load of ice time and has now started to add a bit of offence to his game.  Had 4-6-10 in his first 22 GP this season and in January had 4-6-10 in 5 GP.

Goaltender – Cole Plowman – Winnipeg Hawks – Went 4-0-0 in January with a 1.00 GAA and 1 Shutout.

Top Rookie – Tyson Zimmer – Parkland Rangers, Conor Geekie – The top ranked 04 from Manitoba, Zimmer had another big month of January with 9-12-21 in 8 GP.  Geekie is ranked 2nd and we simply couldn’t decide who had the better month.  Geekie had 8-8-16 in 6 GP in January.
