Tournament MVP Dean Spak.

The 50th anniversary KIBIHT tournament concluded last week in Kamloops.  The tier 1 division hosted 12 teams with the Calgary Northstar Sabres coming out on top.  The Sabres were led by tournament leading scorer, and MVP  Dean Spak  (11-7-18), Jarret Mahan (5-10-15) and Connor Burke (6-6-12).  The Sabres Goaltending duo of Dylan Lacroix and Spencer Little were solid in net, only allowing a tournament low 7 goals against. Calgary cruised through the round robin going 3-0 with 21gf and only 3ga.  They beat BC North Zone 6-0 and Balgonie Prairie in the semifinal 4-1 where they faced the BC South Zone.  BC South Zone threw everything they had at the Sabres but were no match in the end losing 8-3.
BC South Zone was led by Brennan Nelson (3-9-12) and tournament all star Riley Sharun (5-5-10).  South Zone advanced to the championship game going 2-1 in the round robin beating Chilliwack 5-1 and Victoria Racquet Club 5-4, losing to Prince George 4-3 for their only loss.  In a rematch with VRC they won 3-1 and then avenged their loss to PG with a 2-0 win backstopped by Tanner Johnson.
Prince George took home the bronze medal with a victory over Balgonie Prairie Storm 3-2 in OT.  PG was led by tournament all star Kellen Brienen (3-6-9) and Fischer O’Brien (6-1-7).
Other notable performances:
2005 born Connor Bedard from North Vancouver finished the tournament tied for 5th in scoring with (8-2-10) in 6 games played.
