Winnipeg AAA Bantam B2 Weekend Thread – Sunday

Winnipeg Sharks 5 – Winnipeg Monarchs 2


The Winnipeg Sharks move to 1-1-0 after winning 5-2 yesterday.  Curtis Rebeck scored twice, 2000 born ranked WEHP prospect Lewis Negrich picked up 1-2-3 and Matthew Myrowich had 2 points.  For the Monarchs, it was highly ranked Cedric Chenier with 1-1-2.  Chenier led the Winnipeg peewee league last year with 31 goals.

Winnipeg Warriors 6 – Brandon Wheat Kings 4

The Warriors are now 2-0-0 after a 6-4 win.  Details to come….

Today the Winnipeg Monarchs will head to Brandon to play the Wheat Kings.  Both teams will be looking for their first win.


Tuesday’s Bantam Action

Winnipeg AAA League


6’0 157lb Szeremley got off to a nice start for Pembina Valley with a pair of goals.

The Winnipeg AAA league began last night with one game, which saw the Pembina Valley Hawks defeat the Yellowhead Chiefs 4-1 in West Division action.  Garrett Szeremley picked up 2 goals, including the GWG.  Finley Wheeler had 0-3-3 in the win.  Benoit Mowbray scored the lone goal for Yellowhead.

The Winnipeg AAA league will resume action on the weekend with the first of three Bantam Showcases.  We will have our Manitoba area scout in attendance and he will file his report next Monday.

The 2000 born Winnipeg Bantam league will begin tonight as the Winnipeg Sharks take on the heavy favorite Winnipeg Warriors.  The Warriors currently have four players who are ranked in the first round of the draft for 2015.  D – Jett Woo, Caiden Daley, Rylan Bettens and Ben Coppinger are all elite talents from Manitoba and all play on the Warriors.





Saskatchewan Bantam League


Jeremy Dumaine stopped 34 shots to earn a SO in his first start.

There was one game in the SBAAHL last night as the Estevan Bruins picked up their 2nd consecutive shutout to start the season with a 6-0 win over Notre Dame Hounds “AA”.  The Bruins were led by Brady Long (1-2-3)  and highly ranked 2000 born forward Cole Fonstad (2-1-3).  G – Jeremy Dumaine turned aside all 21 shots he faced for the shutout.  Both Dumaine and Veroba have earned shutouts in the Bruins first two games.  Estevan held the shots advantage 38-21 in the game.

The SBAAHL will resume action tonight with just one game once again as Carson Miller and the Yorkton Terriers (1-1-0) head to Regina to take on the Regina Pat Blues (0-0-0).







AMBHL Action

It was also a light night in the AMBHL with a pair of games in the league’s north division. In Fort Saskatchewan, it was the St. Albert Sabres picking up their first win of the season with a 3-0 victory.  Jack Langenhahn picked up 2 goals and now leads the team with 3-2-5 in 3 games so far.  Lucas Palladino scored his 4th goal in as many games.  Picking up the shutout was Chris Curr, who stopped 34 shots.  Curr currently has a 1.51 GAA in a pair of starts with a .948 save percentage.  In the league’s other game between Edmonton MLAC and Edmonton KC, we are still awaiting the result.

Tonight will feature just one game in an all Calgary battle between as the cities North teams will collide as the Calgary Flames (2-1-1) play at the Calgary Northstar Sabres (2-1-0).

British Columbia


The last province to get underway in the bantam season will be British Columbia as the OMAHA, VIAHA and PCAHA will begin this weekend.
